Guided by the development goal of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU)\u2014”Interdisciplinary Integration, Setting Examples for Educators”\u2014the Continuing Education Master’s Program of Addiction Prevention and Treatment<\/b>, established through cross-departmental collaboration managed by the College of Education, implements interdisciplinary integration, enhances students’ cross-domain knowledge, and drives professional research and innovative treatments in domestic addiction prevention through industry-academia cooperation.<\/p>

In light of the growing complexity of drug abuse and behavioral addiction issues both domestically and internationally, the demand for both quality and quantity in addiction prevention work has increased significantly. To address this, NTNU established the first Continuing Education Master’s Program of Addiction Prevention and Treatment<\/b> in Taiwan. By combining industry, government, and academic resources with international academic capabilities, the program partners with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), MOHW-designated addiction treatment hospitals, Juvenile Courts of the Judicial Yuan, local drug hazard prevention centers, the CTBC Anti-Drug Educational Foundation, and non-governmental organizations. Together, they promote professional practical learning and academic exchanges, while cultivating research and development in addiction assessment, triage, and diverse community-based treatments, establishing a key base for talent cultivation and empirical research in Taiwan.<\/p>

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the program was established in the 2022 academic year (111th Academic Year) for working professionals eager to dedicate themselves to the field of addiction prevention. The curriculum is practice-oriented, integrating expertise across health education, social policy, counseling, education, and chemistry. Taught by faculty from industry, government, and academia, the program offers both in-person and digital courses covering substance addiction and behavioral addiction. Classes are held on weekends; students who complete the required coursework and a professional practice report will be awarded a Master of Education degree.<\/p>

The program aims to nurture professional practitioners and supervisors in addiction prevention, respond to societal changes and national anti-drug policies, inject and upgrade talent into the field, and build a stronger national social safety net.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Continuing Education Master’s Program of Addiction Prevention and Treatment<\/b> at NTNU centers on three main pillars: Professional Education<\/b>, Academic Research<\/b>, and Practical Orientation<\/b>. To further expand enrollment and align with the university’s digital learning policy, the Continuing Education Master’s Program of Addiction Prevention and Treatment<\/b> at NTNU plans to apply to fully transform into an online master’s program starting in the 2028 academic year (117th Academic Year).
